Minimalist Meets Maximalist.

So, it’s been a minute.

I must confess, I’ve been dating someone for a while.

And yes, he is in fact a Maximalist – to a degree.

Well, let me break it down; he likes things, way more then I do BUT they are all intentional purchases. We have decided to move in together and this took A LOT in me to be okay with. We both agreed it was best to do but we both had to compromise with each other, especially when it came to “things.”

He has triple (if not more) the amount of clothing I own.

He has a bunch of tools (I did tell him he could just have the front shed).

If it’s one thing I’ve learned as a Minimalist is that you CAN’T force your beliefs on someone. While he likes that I enjoy less clutter and less of a desire on material goods, he does in fact enjoy making purchases that provide value to him.

And that’s okay.

Our first purchase?

This TV stand.wp-1650141612403Did I need it? No.

Did I want it?

Yes, in fact for almost four years I’ve wanted a fireplace TV stand.

We also had to do that; figure out certain bills and finances together.

I’ll be honest, it was NOT easy.

For almost two years I lived on my own from my divorce. I had honestly forgotten how to live with someone; no one to compromise with, no one to talk bills with, no one to “need” to spend time with once the kids went to bed.

I know that sounds weird, but of course I want to spend time with him after the kiddos go to bed.

I am just NOT use to it.

But over the past few weeks, things have been okay. We’ve had some ups and downs on trying to find what works for the both of us, but overall, it’s been great.

I’m really excited to begin this new chapter in my life and can’t wait to see where things go.wp-1648729299153One day at a time, of course.

  1. I love reading your blogs and getting inspiration from you but this last post has me confused. Didn’t you reorganize your house last year for your previous relationship, the one that ended late last year, but in this post you say you have lived alone for two years?

    1. Hello there! We didn’t live together, we had sleep overs here and there hence why I needed to redo the bedroom to actually have a place to sleep! Perhaps I worded it oddly in the post. Thanks for your support and notice of the confusion. 🙂
