Preschool Homeschool Prep.

This year, I will be homeschooling my twins.

Due to their November birthday, they miss the cut off for Kindergarten start.

At first, I was going to do half home school, half preschool.

But as the months passed, I felt this was the best decision. I can’t work much anymore so this gives me a chance to spend more time with the twins before they head to school next year.

I will say (and perhaps I’m a bit biased), they know quite a lot for being “preemie twins.”wp-1657658564737They know many things [due to my oldest] that they wouldn’t learn until Kindergarten or even first grade. I am confident that they will thrive an be ready for Kindergarten in the fall of 2023.

As far as curriculum goes, I won’t be using a “set one” but will be using the Highlights Preschool work books as recommended by a few homeschool moms.wp-1661112774670Most of the worksheets I get are from the Preschool Play and Learn website.

I really liked this set of apple worksheets for the fall.wp-1661112774760I printed out most of the apple themed PDFs and as well as this cute set of marshmallow ten frames.wp-1661112774725These folders, file rack and pencil cases I got from Dollar Tree.wp-1661112799645This drawer set is from my mom from a long time ago but I found THIS similar one. wp-1661112774800Most of the supplies are from my mom as well.

Thanks mom! 😊

Lastly, I got some lesson plan ideas from Jessi Fearon.

Again, I’m not following and set curriculum, but going by a mix of the Highlights workbooks, this lesson plan template as well as what I remember my oldest learned in Pre-K and Kindergarten.

Here’s what our “schedule” will look like:

Mondays and Fridays we’ll stay home, work on the workbooks, reading, a craft (of some sort) and outdoor play, Tuesdays my son has soccer, Wednesday my youngest has dance and Thursdays we will go to the library for “Little Explorers.”

I spoke with the librarian and she said that it would be perfect for them. They do sensory activities and learning through play. It’s geared towards 3-5 year olds and there are even some other homeschool families that attend.

Will every week be perfect?

No.

But I’m excited to venture on this path with them.wp-1632862763283.jpgOne day at a time, of course.
