It’s been uncomfortable gaining some weight.
Since learning that my thyroid isn’t functioning properly and that my blood sugar seems to drop to dangerous lows (hypoglycemia), it’s been quite the few weeks of UNlearning habits and behaviors of 5, 10+ years.
I was doing intermittent fasting (IF) for almost six years and it worked.
Clearly, that is not the case and perhaps it never was. While I’m not saying IF doesn’t work or may not work for you, for MY health needs, it’s causing more damage than doing any good.
I’ve had to cut back on caffeine and drink 80% decaf coffee.
I stopped drinking pre-workout and use green tea instead (which has less effect on the body than caffeine from coffee). I dropped working out 4-5 times a week, focusing on strength (and less HIIT) and now do 3-4 with daily walks when I can for at least ten minutes.
I NEED to eat carbs at night to avoid my blood sugar dropping to under 55 (which is VERY low). Sure there are those that say carbs at night are bad and can make you gain weight. Well, they’re probably right.
I’ve gained almost 5lbs in the last couple of weeks but you know what?
I FEEL so much better when I wake up. 🌿
Most mornings, not all, as my hypoglycemia will probably affect me multiple times a week, I don’t wake up nauseous, dizzy OR feeling like I’m going to faint.
