Emotional Clutter. ๐ŸŒฟ

What happens when you declutter all your physical items?

What is left to do?

Physical clutter stems from some emotional part of you; maybe you have too much clutter because you use shopping as a distraction from your life.

Or maybe you can’t let go of items because they are sentimental to you but you know they are piling up and taking over your life.

The Minimalist recently release a podcast on “Emotional Clutter” and it was honestly perfect timing. I had seen so many decluttering videos for January and felt good that I really didn’t have anything I needed to get rid of.

Sure there are always things here and there to declutter, but I’m talking that “massive purge” of 100s+ items. I just wasn’t there anymore but I couldn’t help but wonder why I still felt “weighed down.”

Enter, emotional clutter.

Things from my past such as divorce,ย my chronic conditions, etc. have been getting to me, yet again. From time to time I will have flare up where I’m in too much pain and have to be more still with my thoughts.

It can get frustrating when they turn negative but I started reading the Emotional Clutter book by T.K. Coleman a couple of days ago and realized this wasn’t an area I’ve decluttered at all.

We’reย  often told that “time heals all wounds.” Lately it seems I just found ways to distract myself from letting go of the past or facing those old wounds.

How can I grow and learns from these “circumstances” that have happened to me?

How can I paint them in a more positive light?ย

We can’t change the past or undo any mistakes, but there is always the ability to grow and learn from them. I highly recommend this book if you are dealing with any emotional clutter that has lingered on for months or years.

While it isn’t a “fix all” book, it is really helpful to start the healing process of letting go.-S.C ๐ŸŒฟ
